About the directory
alertescalation.com lists the tools and writing that matter to anyone who sets up alerting or carries a pager. It is meant to be the page you check before choosing a tool.
How tools are chosen
Every one of the 398 tools was added by hand. A tool is listed when real teams use it for one of the jobs on the alert path: detecting a problem, routing the alert, paging a person, or responding to the incident. Open source projects are listed next to the commercial products, because many teams run both.
Starting points included free-for.dev, the awesome-selfhosted list and the awesome-sre list. Each entry was then checked on the tool's own site. Descriptions are written here, not copied.
Nobody pays to be listed, there are no affiliate links, and every list is in alphabetical order.
What the labels mean
- Free: there is no paid version.
- Free plan: a free hosted plan with limits, or a free open source edition next to a paid one. A time-limited trial does not count.
- Paid: no free plan. Many of these have a trial.
- Open source: the core code is under an open source licence. Source available licences such as BSL or ELv2 are shown as source available instead.
- Self-hosted: you can run it on your own servers.
- Archived and End of sale: the project stopped, or the vendor stopped selling it. These stay listed with dates, because people are still moving off them.
Free plan limits are only shown where they were confirmed on the vendor's pricing page. Prices and plans change often; the tool's own site is always the source of truth. The data was last checked on 30 September 2026.
